Martha and I have been serving at Fellowship since 1993. We have been married for almost thirty-two years. Wow! Martha teaches Kindergarten at Kansas City Christian school. She enjoys music, especially piano, reading, cooking, quilting and scrapbooking.

When I have a little time off, I keep busy with various “honey do’s” around our house, reading and exercising. I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX in 1984 (M.Div) and 1993 (Ph.D in New Testament).

We have three adult children. Our daughters, Rachel and Joanna live in Chiang Rai, Thailand and teach English at a university and a language school while engaged in mission activities. Our son, Nathan finished a master’s degree in Aviation Saftey at Central Missouri University in Warrensburg, MO. He is a Certified Flight Instructor.  Eventually, he wants to fly for missionary or humanitarian aviation, maybe in Africa. Currently he is in Officers Candidate School for the U.S. Navy in Newport, RI.  He will be serving four years and hopes to be assigned to Pearl Harbor (we hope so too, so we can visit Hawaii!).

Good thing we love to travel! We want our love for Christ to be the passion of our lives.

Where do you begin a bio? I could start with, I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska (which is why I am an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan). Graduated from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri with a BA in Religious Education with an emphasis in youth ministry in 1993 (wow that makes me sound old)…

Then I moved to Kansas City were I graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education in 1999 (hey, that makes me sound kind of smart). And I have been the minister of youth and children here at Fellowship since June of 1999 (do youth pastors really stay at one church for that long?!) I married my wonderful wife, Mandie on October 12, 1996 (which made her Mandie Moore but not that Mandy Moore). We have three amazing sons, Joel, Micah and Caleb (poor mom, she is so outnumbered by all us boys!)

I love youth ministry. My goal is for our students to grow a life long passion for Jesus Christ. I love to read, especially John Piper, Mark Driscoll and Louie Giglio. And I love to ride my bicycle (sing along if you know the song). And I love Christian music, especially Hillsong United, Passion, Fee, Skillet, TFK, Sanctus Real and Falling Up to name a few. So that’s me in a nutshell. I hope I get the privilege to get to know you sometime!

Mike Jones : Missions Pastor

Missions Pastor

Our family joined Fellowship Baptist in 1993. We soon became involved in the Missions Ministry. In 1999 I became the Missions Pastor at Fellowship. We have been blessed to see volunteer and long-term missionaries serve from FBC on every continent except Antarctica…

Our vision is to see every member of FBC mobilized and equipped to be part of God’s plan to make disciples from among every nation beginning in our own community.

My wife Karen and I are empty nesters. We have three children who were home educated. Amy and Michael work in the Kansas City area. Laura and her husband David are completing a graduate degree program at Leads University and will begin new employment opportunities in London later this year.

In addition to the missions ministry responsibilities, I also work for IBM. I have degrees in Computer Science, Business Management and Theology. As time permits, Karen and I enjoy traveling and reading.

Kathy and I joined Fellowship in 1997 and in 1999 I began serving as an interim worship leader.  In 2000 I was called as Worship Pastor.  It is an honor to serve God in this way.  At Fellowship we desire to worship God in spirit and in truth, through the teaching of God’s Word and in praise.  It is my desire to bring an offering of praise that would be pleasing to God and would draw others to lift up His name.

Kathy and I met at Central Missouri State University while working on our Music Degrees.  We were married February 12, 1983 and have since been blessed with three children; Jason and Teron, and Kanthika, (Bow).  Kathy keeps very busy working in the home and playing the part of my music secretary, I would be in trouble without her.

In addition to my responsibilities in worship I also work for the FAA as an Airspace and Procedure Specialist and Air Traffic Controller.  I have been with the agency just over 22 years.

Prayer Pastor

My wife Judy and I have been married over 40 years. We joined FBC in 1994. We felt called to serve the body immediately. I retired in 1998 from a national company and within 2 weeks I was in Kenya on mission. We fell in love with the idea of coming along side others to further the Kingdom. FBC wants people to know that we put a high priority on Prayer. I was called to be the Pastor of Prayer in 2000. My call is to teach, encourage and exhort people to pray.
